Crush of the Day: Paolo Sebastian Couture Spring/Summer 2015

The young designer Paul Vasileff launched his first collection in 2007 at the age of 17. A perfectionist with a penchant for classic beauty, the Adelaide designer has impressed the industry with his maturity and scope of his creative vision.

A firm favourite on both the runway and red carpet, Paolo Sebastian specialises in custom-made couture tailored to accentuate the beauty of the individual. Classic designs reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour exude timeless elegance, paired with a contemporary edge. Often featuring impeccably tailored boning and the tiniest of hand sewn floral appliques, Paolo Sebastian creations encapsulate both the boldness of high fashion and the delicate innocence of beauty.

Handmade in South Australia, each piece is a triumph of custom-made craftsmanship. Opulent silks, French lace and romantic silhouettes are key features of Paolo Sebastian creations, often featuring delicate hand beading.

Resort Report: Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 Collection

Alexander McQueen was in full bloom for resort as creative director Sarah Burton planted a garden of prints and patterns based on sweet pea, lily of the valley, begonia and hollyhock. “It’s the very opposite of last season’s darkness, and all about growth, freshness, springtime — and optimism,” said Burton, who interspersed her flowers with jewels and finishes with a precious heirloom feel.

Resort Report: Marchesa & Marchesa Notte 2016

Marchesa Resort 2016

“Everything with Marchesa is a soft, romantic take on a theme; you won’t see it too heavily translated,” said Keren Craig about her and Georgina Chapman’s resort collection. Pink, gold, cream and navy tones dominated the feminine lineup.

For their sister Marchesa Notte line, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig took the same inspiration cues from their Marchesa resort collection — Islamic flowers and tiles — and translated the theme for the brand’s slightly younger customer.
